Numeracy and Mathematics
Numeracy at Seaview Primary School is a core part of our curriculum, designed to give every child the confidence and skills they need to succeed. We follow the Northern Ireland Curriculum, ensuring pupils develop strong foundations in number, shape, space, measures, and data handling. Lessons are practical and engaging, using real-life contexts to make learning meaningful and enjoyable.
Our teachers use a variety of strategies to meet individual needs, including mental maths activities, problem-solving tasks, and interactive resources. We place a strong emphasis on reasoning and understanding, encouraging pupils to explain their thinking and apply skills in different situations. Regular assessment helps us track progress and provide targeted support where needed.
Technology also plays an important role in our numeracy provision. Pupils have access to digital tools and apps that reinforce key concepts and allow for independent practice. These resources complement classroom teaching and help children develop confidence in using maths in everyday life.
